DALC does not offer direct Masters Degrees. Masters Degrees are achievable through credit transfers in universities of a student’s choice.
The Masters degrees are achievable after completing a Postgraduate Diploma (please click here to review Cambridge (CAM) Chart of Qualifications Framework).
On completion of a Postgraduate diploma, the following factors would influence the choice of an upgrading university for the said credit transfer to Masters degree:
- How you have performed in the subjects at Postgraduate Diploma
- ]The cost of that upgrade on top of what has been spent on Postgraduate Diploma
- The extra course subjects required
- Whether you will be required to travel overseas or if distance learning exists so that you upgrade while in your host country
Therefore, Credit Transfers to Masters Degrees vary from university to university.
Top universities would always require top performance (i.e. Achieving DISTINCTIONS in all subjects) ,additional subjects/modules plus GMAT/GRE, TOEFL/IELTS for evidence of aptitude ability. Computer Literacy evidence and an oral interview to ascertain interpersonal skills in addition to the postgraduate diploma qualification will also be required by such top world universities just like top schools do while selecting candidates to join them.
Other universities might accept a 10,000 word project (bachelors) or a 20,000 word project (masters) from those who complete the diplomas at NVQ L4 and NVQL5 respectively, for credit transfers to bachelors or masters degrees. These other universities will take you with pass grades and do not require GMAT/GRE/SATs/IELTS/TOEFL. You must complete your course successfully though to earn the credit transfers.
So, this process is like someone completing Primary School and looking forward to Secondary School. Obviously, everyone will be looking forward to top schools bust you have to do extremely very well (i.e get grades A’s) and providing other evidence that gives you definite advantage over others.
If you do not meet this requirements of nearly all subjects being grades A’s, then you will have to consider other schools which can take you with grades B or Cs.
Point is either way you will all be in Secondary school. Similarly, you will all get upgrades in university for Masters degrees and the only difference will be which one, which is purely determines by your own effort/ability.
A lot of consideration is given to those with work place experience, other qualifications or other exceptional achievement. You will be expected to travel overseas unless distance learning exists for that university OR it is a local university providing the recognition hence the credit transfers locally.
It is a requirement that candidates meet formal admission procedures of the universities in order to achieve the credit transfers. So, candidates must register directly with the universities for the credit transfers. It is also important to note that the final award of the Masters or masters degree is at the discretion of the awarding university.
The most important thing is that Cambridge and Oxford qualifications are so recognized that THE UPGRADES THROUGH CREDIT TRANSFERS ARE GUARANTEED in most universities as you pass all the modules.
For more information and a list of universities providing the upgrades, send an email to Creative Education Africa Ltd, who work directly with most UK bodies like CAM and OXIM in providing this upgrade. Please send your email to: creativeafrica2004@yahoo.com |
